Over 18 months Companion Cows helped save 100 dairy cows.

Flooding across New South Wales left farms under enormous pressure. Fences were destroyed, feed was running low and some farmers reached out knowing they could no longer keep their animals.

Instead of being sent to slaughter, they were given another future.

Some went straight to their forever homes, while others spent months in our care as we found safe homes, organised transport, and supported them through the transition. Two of the cows were also pregnant when they arrived and later gave birth safely in care, remaining together with their babies.

What could have ended very differently became one of the clearest examples of what can happen when farmers, adopters, donors, volunteers, transporters, veterinarians and sanctuary partners all choose to create another option.
